Housing project
Several landmark housing initiatives have been undertaken to improve the living conditions of tribal communities in Kerala. In Wayanad, the Model Housing Project provided model homes on vested forest land for tribal families, benefiting communities including the Paniya, Adiya and Kattunayakkan communities. In Kannur, the Aralam Tribal Rehabilitation Programme supported tribal families in constructing houses within the resettlement area, helping them establish secure homes and rebuild their lives.
Implementation of Forest Rights Act
The implementation of the Forest Rights Act (FRA, 2006) across Kerala has secured extensive land and community rights for forest-dwelling communities.
