Several landmark housing initiatives have been undertaken to improve the living conditions of tribal communities in Kerala. In Wayanad, the Model Housing Project provided model homes on vested forest land for tribal families, benefiting communities including the Paniya, Adiya and Kattunayakkan communities. In Kannur, the Aralam Tribal Rehabilitation Programme supported tribal families in constructing houses within the resettlement area, helping them establish secure homes and rebuild their lives. The Muthanga Rehabilitation Housing Project also provided residential plots and houses to landless tribal families as part of their rehabilitation. Together, these initiatives have contributed to providing tribal families with secure housing, improved living conditions and a stronger foundation for sustainable rehabilitation and resettlement.
